Activity Plan Implementation for Deadline Achievement Training

SAQA US 252200 | NQF 4 | Credits 6 | Duration 3 Days
From $967 per delegate

Description

This course equips learners with the skills to implement activity plans effectively to meet agreed deadlines. Participants will learn to monitor progress, adjust plans as needed, and communicate updates to stakeholders, ensuring timely and successful project completion.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate understanding of the components of an activity plan and their role in meeting deadlines
  • Implement activity plans by allocating resources and assigning tasks according to the plan
  • Monitor progress against the activity plan and identify deviations
  • Adjust activity plans in response to changes or obstacles to maintain deadline achievement
  • Communicate progress and plan adjustments to relevant stakeholders
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented activity plan against agreed deadlines

Target Audience

This course is designed for team leaders, supervisors, and project coordinators who are responsible for executing activity plans and ensuring deadlines are met.

Prerequisites

None — open enrollment.

Course Outline

Day 1: Foundations of Activity Planning and Implementation

Objectives:
• Understand the purpose and principles of activity planning for deadline achievement.
• Identify key components of an activity plan: tasks, resources, timelines, and milestones.
• Learn to break down a project into manageable activities and sequence them logically.
• Recognise the importance of stakeholder communication and role allocation in implementation.
• Apply basic scheduling techniques using Gantt charts or simple tools.

Topics:
• Introduction to activity planning and its role in deadline achievement.
• Components of an activity plan: scope, deliverables, resources, and timeframes.
• Work breakdown structure (WBS) and task decomposition.
• Sequencing activities and dependency mapping.
• Resource estimation and allocation basics.
• Introduction to scheduling tools (e.g., Gantt charts, spreadsheets).
• Roles and responsibilities in plan implementation.
• Communication strategies for team alignment.

Day 2: Advanced Scheduling, Risk Management, and Monitoring

Objectives:
• Develop detailed schedules with critical path analysis and buffer time.
• Identify and mitigate risks that could impact deadlines.
• Implement monitoring and tracking mechanisms to measure progress.
• Adjust plans dynamically in response to deviations.
• Use performance indicators to evaluate implementation effectiveness.

Topics:
• Critical path method (CPM) and float calculation.
• Risk identification, assessment, and mitigation planning.
• Setting key performance indicators (KPIs) for milestone tracking.
• Progress monitoring techniques: status reports, dashboards, check-ins.
• Change management and corrective action procedures.
• Time management strategies for teams and individuals.
• Software tools for tracking and reporting (e.g., MS Project, Trello).
• Case study: Analysing a delayed project and proposing recovery steps.

Day 3: Practical Integration and Final Implementation Simulation

Objectives:
• Synthesise all learning into a comprehensive activity plan for a realistic scenario.
• Demonstrate ability to implement, monitor, and adjust a plan under simulated constraints.
• Evaluate plan success and reflect on lessons learned.
• Present and defend the plan to peers for feedback.
• Develop a personal action plan for applying skills in the workplace.

Topics:
• Group project: Develop a full activity plan for a given scenario (e.g., event, product launch).
• Implementation simulation with time pressure and unexpected changes.
• Peer review and feedback session on plans.
• Lessons learned and continuous improvement.
• Personal action planning for workplace application.
• Course wrap-up and assessment.

Practicals

12 hours of practicals To be conducted online or on-campus or in-house
Overview

This course includes a substantial practical component where learners apply activity planning techniques to realistic scenarios. Through group exercises and simulations, participants practice task breakdown, scheduling, risk management, and monitoring, culminating in a full implementation simulation on Day 3.

Practical Activities
  • Work Breakdown Structure Exercise — Learners work in groups to decompose a given project into tasks and subtasks, creating a hierarchical WBS. (2h)
  • Scheduling with Critical Path Analysis — Using a case study, learners create a Gantt chart, calculate the critical path, and determine float for non-critical tasks. (3h)
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation Planning — Learners identify potential risks to a project timeline, assess their impact and likelihood, and propose mitigation strategies. (2h)
  • Implementation Simulation and Monitoring — A simulated project run where learners execute their plan, track progress using KPIs, and respond to unexpected disruptions. (5h)

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course via daily exercises, scored practical assignments, and a final summative test at the end.

Practical Assignments — 30%

Practical assignments are observed and scored against a rubric during the practical sessions. Each delegate's practical mark is averaged into a single 100% score and contributes 30% to the final total.

Daily Exercises — 20%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 20% to the final total.

Final Test — 50%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 50% to the overall mark.

Final Total
Component Out of Weight
Practical Assignments (rubric-scored) 100% 30%
Daily Average (multiple choice) 100% 20%
Final Test (multi-answer multiple choice) 100% 50%
Final Total 100%

All marks are recorded on the AATICD LMS and visible to each learner under their account.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Practicals 30% + Daily Average 20% + Final Test 50%).

How it works
  • Certificates are auto-generated on the AATICD LMS as soon as the marks pass the 50% threshold.
  • Each certificate is a branded PDF with the delegate's name, the course title, the unit standard ID, NQF level, credits, and the date of issue.
  • You can download or print your certificate from your LMS dashboard at any time after issue — there's no reissue fee and no expiry date.
  • If you scored under 50% you can sit the final test again at the next scheduled session at no extra cost.
Where to find it

Sign in to the LMS, open your dashboard, and your certificates appear under My Certificates. Each entry has a View / Download button and a print option.
