Day 1: Foundations of Christian Leadership

Objectives:
• Understand the biblical basis for leadership.
• Identify key characteristics of Christian leadership.
• Differentiate Christian leadership from secular leadership models.
• Explore the role of servanthood in leadership.

• Biblical foundations of leadership (Old and New Testament examples).
• The character of a Christian leader (integrity, humility, servanthood).
• Leadership as stewardship.
• Comparison of Christian and secular leadership paradigms.
• Introduction to the unit standard and course outcomes.

Day 2: Leadership Theories and Models

Objectives:
• Describe major leadership theories (trait, behavioural, contingency).
• Analyse transformational and servant leadership models.
• Evaluate the relevance of these models to Christian contexts.
• Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each model.

Topics:
• Overview of leadership theories.
• Transformational leadership: vision and inspiration.
• Servant leadership: putting others first.
• Situational leadership: adapting to context.
• Transactional leadership: exchange and rewards.
• Authentic leadership: being true to values.

Day 3: Management Principles in Christian Context

Objectives:
• Understand core management functions (planning, organising, leading, controlling).
• Apply management principles within a Christian worldview.
• Integrate faith and work in management practices.
• Identify ethical considerations in management.

• Planning with purpose and vision.
• Organising for effective ministry.
• Leading with love and justice.
• Controlling for accountability and stewardship.

Day 4: Critique of Secular Leadership Models

Objectives:
• Critically evaluate secular leadership models from a Christian perspective.
• Identify theological tensions in popular leadership theories.
• Discuss the limitations of secular approaches in faith-based organisations.
• Develop a balanced critique using biblical principles.

Topics:
• Critique of trait theory: character vs. charisma.
• Critique of situational leadership: flexibility vs. conviction.
• Critique of transformational leadership: manipulation vs. inspiration.
• Critique of servant leadership: sincerity vs. strategy.

Day 5: Biblical Models of Leadership

Day 6: Organisational Culture and Change Management

• Understand the role of culture in organisations.
• Apply Christian principles to shape organisational culture.
• Manage change effectively from a faith perspective.
• Address resistance to change with grace and truth.

• Defining organisational culture.
• The influence of leadership on culture.
• Building a culture of honour and excellence.
• Change management models (Kotter, Lewin).
• Leading change in church and ministry settings.
• Overcoming resistance through communication and prayer.

Day 7: Team Building and Empowerment

Objectives:
• Understand principles of effective team dynamics.
• Apply biblical principles to team building.
• Empower others through delegation and mentorship.
• Resolve conflicts biblically.

Topics:
• The body of Christ metaphor: diversity and unity.
• Stages of team development (Tuckman).
• Delegation as empowerment.
• Mentoring and discipleship.
• Conflict resolution: Matthew 18 principles.
• Building trust and accountability.

Day 8: Strategic Planning and Vision Casting

Objectives:
• Develop a strategic plan aligned with God's vision.
• Communicate vision effectively.
• Set measurable goals with eternal perspective.
• Evaluate progress and make adjustments.

• Vision vs. mission vs. strategy.
• Seeking God's guidance in planning.
• SMART goals in ministry context.
• SWOT analysis from a Christian worldview.

Day 9: Integration and Practical Application

Objectives:
• Synthesise all course content into a personal leadership framework.
• Develop an action plan for implementing principles learned.
• Present a critique of a leadership model using biblical standards.
• Commit to ongoing growth and accountability.

• Personal leadership development plan.
• Peer presentations: critique of a leadership model.

This course is made up of exercises and case studies delivered alongside the theory — no separate practical sessions are required to complete it.

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course and a final summative test at the end.

Daily Exercises — 30%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 30% to the final total.

Final Test — 70%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 70% to the overall mark.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Daily Average 30% + Final Test 70%).
