Course Outline

Day 1: Foundations of Team Development

Objectives:
• Understand the principles of team development and its importance in the recruitment industry.
• Identify the stages of team development according to Tuckman's model.
• Recognise the role of individual strengths in team dynamics.
• Apply foundational concepts to assess current team functioning.

• Introduction to team development theories
• Tuckman's stages: forming, storming, norming, performing, adjourning
• The recruitment industry context: unique team challenges
• Assessing team maturity and performance gaps
• Setting team goals aligned with organisational objectives

Day 2: Communication and Trust Building

Objectives:
• Enhance communication skills for effective team interaction.
• Build trust through transparency and active listening.
• Develop strategies to manage conflict constructively.
• Apply communication models to recruitment team scenarios.

Topics:
• Effective communication models (e.g., Johari Window)
• Active listening and feedback techniques
• Building psychological safety in teams
• Conflict resolution styles and their application
• Role-play: handling difficult conversations in recruitment

Day 3: Roles, Responsibilities, and Goal Alignment

Objectives:
• Clarify team roles and responsibilities using Belbin's model.
• Align individual goals with team and organisational objectives.
• Develop a shared team vision and mission.
• Create accountability structures within the team.

• Belbin team roles: strengths and weaknesses
• Defining clear roles in recruitment teams (sourcers, recruiters, account managers)
• SMART goal setting for team performance
• Developing a team charter

Day 4: Performance Management and Feedback

• Implement performance management systems tailored to recruitment teams.
• Deliver constructive and motivational feedback.
• Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive team performance.
• Address underperformance while maintaining team morale.

Day 5: Collaboration and Diversity in Teams

Objectives:
• Foster collaboration across different functions and levels.
• Leverage diversity for innovative problem-solving.
• Manage cross-cultural and remote team dynamics.
• Apply inclusive leadership practices.

• Collaborative tools and techniques (e.g., brainstorming, nominal group technique)
• Diversity dimensions: culture, generation, personality

• Workshop: designing a collaborative project

Day 6: Advanced Team Dynamics and Problem Solving

Objectives:
• Analyse complex team dynamics and intervene effectively.
• Apply advanced problem-solving frameworks to team challenges.
• Facilitate team decision-making processes.
• Develop resilience and adaptability in teams.

• Systems thinking in team dynamics
• Decision-making models: consensus, voting, autocratic
• Creative problem-solving techniques (e.g., Six Thinking Hats)
• Building team resilience: stress management and adaptability
• Simulation: navigating a recruitment crisis as a team

Day 7: Integration, Action Planning, and Sustainability

Objectives:
• Synthesise learning into a comprehensive team development action plan.
• Present and receive feedback on action plans.
• Establish mechanisms for continuous improvement.
• Commit to ongoing team development practices.

• Review of key concepts and tools
• Creating a team development action plan
• Presentation of action plans to peers for feedback
• Building a culture of continuous learning
• Commitment ceremony: setting team development milestones

This course is made up of exercises and case studies delivered alongside the theory — no separate practical sessions are required to complete it.

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course and a final summative test at the end.

Daily Exercises — 30%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 30% to the final total.

Final Test — 70%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 70% to the overall mark.

All marks are recorded on the AATICD LMS and visible to each learner under their account.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Daily Average 30% + Final Test 70%).
