Day 1: Introduction to Information Verification and Processing

Day 2: Information Gathering Techniques

Objectives:
• Apply systematic methods for collecting information from various sources.
• Use interviewing and questioning techniques effectively.
• Conduct effective online research and database searches.
• Document information collection processes for audit trails.

• Structured vs unstructured information gathering
• Interview techniques: open-ended, closed, and probing questions
• Online research strategies: search engines, databases, and Boolean operators
• Accessing organisational records and internal data
• Observation and documentation methods

Day 3: Verification Methods and Cross-Referencing

Objectives:
• Apply cross-referencing techniques to validate information.
• Use triangulation to confirm data accuracy from multiple sources.
• Identify common errors and biases in information.
• Practice verification through case studies and scenarios.

Day 4: Information Analysis and Interpretation

Day 5: Information Processing and Reporting

• Organise and structure information for clear reporting.
• Create professional reports that present verified findings.
• Use appropriate visual aids to enhance understanding.
• Apply referencing and citation standards.

• Structuring information: outlines, headings, and summaries
• Report writing formats: executive summaries, findings, and recommendations
• Visual aids: charts, graphs, and infographics
• Referencing styles: APA, Harvard, or organisational standards
• Quality assurance: proofreading and editing
• Practical exercise: compiling a verification report

Day 6: Technology Tools for Information Management

Objectives:
• Use spreadsheet software for data verification and analysis.
• Apply database querying techniques for accurate information retrieval.
• Utilise collaboration tools for team-based verification.
• Implement security measures for information storage and sharing.

• Spreadsheet functions: VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, and data validation

• Collaboration platforms: shared drives, version control, and permissions

Day 7: Integration, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement

• Complete a summative assessment demonstrating competence.

• Understand how to apply skills to real-world workplace scenarios.

This course is made up of exercises and case studies delivered alongside the theory — no separate practical sessions are required to complete it.

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course and a final summative test at the end.

Daily Exercises — 30%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 30% to the final total.

Final Test — 70%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 70% to the overall mark.

All marks are recorded on the AATICD LMS and visible to each learner under their account.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Daily Average 30% + Final Test 70%).

  • Each certificate is a branded PDF with the delegate's name, the course title, the unit standard ID, NQF level, credits, and the date of issue.

  • If you scored under 50% you can sit the final test again at the next scheduled session at no extra cost.
