Day 1: Foundations of Integrated Marketing Communications

• Distinguish between traditional marketing and IMC.

Day 2: IMC Tools, Channels, and Audience Analysis

Objectives:
• Analyse different IMC tools and their appropriate applications.
• Understand target audience segmentation and consumer behaviour.
• Evaluate the role of digital and traditional channels in an IMC plan.
• Develop a basic IMC strategy using the SOSTAC model.
• Assess the importance of media planning and integration.

• In-depth look at IMC tools: advertising, public relations, sales promotion, direct marketing, personal selling, digital marketing.
• Target audience analysis: segmentation, targeting, and positioning.
• Consumer decision-making process and its impact on IMC.
• Digital channels: social media, email, SEO, content marketing.
• Traditional channels: TV, radio, print, outdoor.
• The SOSTAC planning framework: situation, objectives, strategy, tactics, action, control.
• Media planning: reach, frequency, and integration.
• Group activity: Outline an IMC plan for a local brand.

Day 3: Implementation, Measurement, and Ethical Considerations

Objectives:
• Describe the steps to implement an IMC campaign.
• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring IMC effectiveness.
• Understand ethical and legal issues in IMC, including ASA regulations.
• Apply IMC principles to a real-world scenario.
• Evaluate the role of IMC in achieving organisational objectives.

• Implementing an IMC campaign: coordination and timing.
• Budgeting for IMC: methods and allocation.
• Measuring IMC effectiveness: KPIs, ROI, and attribution models.
• Ethical considerations in IMC: truth in advertising, targeting vulnerable groups.
• South African advertising regulations: ASA Code of Practice.
• IMC in a digital age: challenges and opportunities.
• Case study analysis: Measuring a South African IMC campaign.
• Final assessment: Develop an integrated communications brief.

This course is made up of exercises and case studies delivered alongside the theory — no separate practical sessions are required to complete it.

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course and a final summative test at the end.

Daily Exercises — 30%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 30% to the final total.

Final Test — 70%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 70% to the overall mark.

All marks are recorded on the AATICD LMS and visible to each learner under their account.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Daily Average 30% + Final Test 70%).
