Description

This course equips learners with the skills to deliver an effective supply chain visibility service to customers, enabling them to track and trace orders, manage exceptions, and communicate proactively. Participants will learn to utilize visibility tools and data to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Course Outline

Day 1: Foundations of Supply Chain Visibility

Objectives:
• Define supply chain visibility and its importance for customer service
• Identify key stakeholders and information flows in a supply chain
• Describe the role of technology in enabling visibility
• List common challenges in achieving end-to-end visibility
• Explain how visibility impacts customer satisfaction and operational efficiency

• Introduction to supply chain visibility concepts
• The customer perspective: expectations and needs
• Information flows: order, inventory, shipment, and delivery data
• Technology enablers: ERP, tracking systems, and dashboards
• Barriers to visibility: data silos, latency, and accuracy
• Case study: visibility failures and successes

Day 2: Implementing Visibility Solutions for Customers

Objectives:
• Select appropriate visibility tools and metrics for different customer segments
• Configure dashboards and alerts to meet customer requirements
• Analyse real-time data to identify exceptions and bottlenecks
• Communicate visibility insights effectively to customers
• Apply problem-solving techniques to improve visibility processes

Topics:
• Customer visibility requirements: segmentation and service level agreements
• Data integration: sources, formats, and frequency
• Dashboard design: key performance indicators and visualisation
• Exception management: alerts, escalation, and resolution
• Communication skills: reporting and proactive notifications
• Practical exercise: building a visibility dashboard

Day 3: Advanced Visibility and Continuous Improvement

Objectives:
• Evaluate the effectiveness of visibility services using feedback and metrics
• Identify opportunities for predictive visibility using analytics
• Develop a continuous improvement plan for visibility processes
• Integrate visibility with other customer service functions (e.g., returns, claims)
• Present a visibility improvement proposal to stakeholders

• Measuring visibility maturity: scorecards and audits
• Predictive analytics: demand sensing and risk alerts
• Integration with customer service workflows
• Continuous improvement: root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Change management: gaining buy-in for visibility initiatives

Overview

Hands-on practicals allow learners to apply visibility concepts using simulated supply chain data, configure dashboards, and practice proactive communication with customers. These sessions reinforce learning and build confidence in delivering visibility services.

Practical Activities
  • Data Integration and Dashboard Setup — Learners integrate sample data from multiple sources (orders, inventory, shipments) into a visibility platform and create a basic dashboard. (3h)
  • Exception Management Simulation — Using a simulated scenario, learners monitor real-time data, identify exceptions (delays, stockouts), and initiate appropriate alerts and responses. (3h)
  • Customer Communication Role-Play — Learners role-play as visibility analysts presenting dashboard insights and resolving a customer query or complaint based on visibility data. (2h)
  • Continuous Improvement Project — Teams analyse a visibility process, identify a bottleneck, and propose an improvement using root cause analysis and a simple action plan. (2h)

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course via daily exercises, scored practical assignments, and a final summative test at the end.

Practical Assignments — 30%

Practical assignments are observed and scored against a rubric during the practical sessions. Each delegate's practical mark is averaged into a single 100% score and contributes 30% to the final total.

Daily Exercises — 20%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 20% to the final total.

Final Test — 50%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 50% to the overall mark.

All marks are recorded on the AATICD LMS and visible to each learner under their account.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Practicals 30% + Daily Average 20% + Final Test 50%).

  • Certificates are auto-generated on the AATICD LMS as soon as the marks pass the 50% threshold.
  • Each certificate is a branded PDF with the delegate's name, the course title, the unit standard ID, NQF level, credits, and the date of issue.
  • You can download or print your certificate from your LMS dashboard at any time after issue — there's no reissue fee and no expiry date.
  • If you scored under 50% you can sit the final test again at the next scheduled session at no extra cost.
