This course equips learners with the competencies to coordinate performance maintenance and repair activities within a workplace environment. Course Outline

Day 1: Introduction to Performance Maintenance and Repairs

Objectives:
• Understand the scope and importance of performance maintenance and repairs in the workplace.
• Identify key legislative and regulatory requirements relevant to maintenance activities.
• Recognise the roles and responsibilities of team members in maintenance coordination.
• Distinguish between different types of maintenance strategies (reactive, preventive, predictive).
• Establish a foundation for planning and scheduling maintenance tasks.

Day 2: Maintenance Planning Principles

Objectives:
• Develop a basic maintenance plan using standard templates.
• Prioritise maintenance tasks based on criticality and urgency.
• Identify resources required for maintenance activities.
• Understand the use of work orders and maintenance requests.
• Apply risk assessment principles to maintenance planning.

Day 3: Scheduling and Coordination Techniques

Objectives:

• Communicate maintenance schedules effectively to stakeholders.
• Use scheduling software features (e.g., MS Project, Excel).

Day 4: Performance Monitoring and Data Collection

• Understand the role of condition monitoring techniques.
• Analyse trends to predict potential failures.

Day 5: Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving

• Apply root cause analysis (RCA) techniques to maintenance issues.
• Use cause-and-effect diagrams and 5 Whys.
• Develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Document RCA findings and recommendations.
• Facilitate a team-based RCA session.

Day 6: Maintenance Execution and Quality Control

• Ensure safety protocols are followed during maintenance.
• Conduct post-maintenance inspections and sign-offs.

Day 7: Spare Parts Management and Inventory Control

Objectives:

• Minimise stockouts while controlling costs.
• Use inventory management software effectively.

Day 8: Continuous Improvement and Maintenance Optimisation

Objectives:

• Analyse maintenance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Implement changes to improve reliability and reduce costs.
• Measure the impact of improvement initiatives.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in the team.

Day 9: Integration, Assessment, and Action Planning

• Complete a summative assessment covering unit standard outcomes.
• Create a personal action plan for applying learning in the workplace.

This course is made up of exercises and case studies delivered alongside the theory — no separate practical sessions are required to complete it.

Summatives

Each delegate is assessed continuously throughout the course and a final summative test at the end.

Daily Exercises — 30%

Every training day ends with a multiple-choice exercise scored out of 100%. The scores from each daily exercise are averaged across the duration of the course to produce a Daily Average mark, which contributes 30% to the final total.

Final Test — 70%

On the last day a final summative test is written. It is a multiple-choice paper with multiple-answer questions: each question may have more than one correct option, and a single wrong selection on a question marks the entire question wrong — no partial credit. The final test is scored out of 100% and contributes 70% to the overall mark.

Certificate

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to delegates who achieve an overall mark of 50% or higher on the Final Total (Daily Average 30% + Final Test 70%).
